National States Insurance Company was founded in 1964 and operated as a provider of insurance coverage to individuals and families across the United States. The company offered a variety of insurance products, including life insurance, health insurance, Medicare Supplement policies, and home insurance. National States was committed to providing its customers with reliable and affordable insurance solutions to help protect their financial well-being.

Liquidation Proceedings

On November 15, 2010, the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri, declared National States Insurance Company insolvent and ordered the company into liquidation. This unfortunate event resulted from the company's inability to meet its financial obligations to its policyholders and creditors.

Following this declaration, the Court appointed a liquidator, whose primary responsibility was to manage the company's assets and distribute them fairly among its creditors in accordance with established legal procedures.

Resolution for Policyholders

The liquidator determined that National States did not have sufficient assets to pay claims with a priority lower than Class 2. All claimants with priorities below Class 2 were notified accordingly.

Effective January 1, 2017, National States ceased administering its policies. Policies previously issued by National States are now handled by various organizations designated to ensure policyholders receive the necessary support and claim processing.

Long Term Care and Other Health Insurance Policies

Policyholders from various states who held long-term care or other health insurance policies issued by National States have been assigned to different guaranty associations:

• Illinois: The Illinois Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association
• Indiana: The Indiana Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association
• Missouri, California, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont: The Missouri Insurance Guaranty Association
• Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund
• Other States: TriPlus Services, Inc.

Life Insurance Policies

As of April 1, 2012, Family Life Insurance Company assumed responsibility for all National States life insurance policies. Policyholders with life insurance policies issued by National States are directed to contact Family Life Insurance Company for all claims, premium payments, and policy-related inquiries.

Medicare Supplement Policies

Prior to November 15, 2010, Oxford Life Insurance Company and North American Life Insurance Company assumed all National States Medicare Supplement policies. Policyholders with these policies should contact Oxford Life Insurance Company or North American Life Insurance Company for all related matters, including claims, premium payments, and general inquiries.
