Our History

Founded by Louis C. Schultz, a retired Chebanse Postmaster, Meyer Agency started as a currency exchange in the ornate Bank of Chebanse building. However, due to popular demand, Louis ventured into the insurance business, contracting with The Hartford. The Agency was then passed down to his son, Louis M. Schultz, who expanded the business by adding Crop Insurance. In 1970, Howard Meyer, Louis M.'s nephew, took over the business, further expanding the insurance lines. Howard was joined by his son, Jim, in 1976, and later by his grandnephew, Jason Mathy, in 1991. Jim's wife, Adele, joined the Agency in 2001, making it a truly family-run business.**

Our Location

After 84 years, we continue to operate from the beautiful ornate Bank of Chebanse building that Grandpa Schultz purchased in 1937. We are proud of our rich history and are committed to providing personalized service to our present customers while eagerly anticipating serving new ones.**
