Knakmuhs Agency is a third-generation, family-owned independent insurance and real estate agency with offices located in Walnut Grove, Tracy, Westbrook, and Storden, Minnesota. Our families have been members of these communities for many years and we take our civic duty very seriously. We are dedicated to serving the needs of our clients and strive to build long-term relationships with each and every one of them.

As an independent insurance agency, we represent multiple insurers, providing you with the best coverages and lowest rates available. We take the time to get to know you and understand your unique needs in order to find the right insurance fit for you. Our History

The Knakmuhs Agency was founded in 1960 when Richard Knakmuhs purchased a small insurance agency on Main Street in Walnut Grove. In 1977, his son Kerry joined the business and added real estate sales into the mix. In 1987, the agency experienced significant growth with the purchase of the Tracy Agency. In 1993, the agency expanded once again by becoming active in Garvin.

In 2001, two of Kerry's sons, Matt and Nate, joined the business after graduating from the University of Minnesota, Morris. That same year, the agency found an opportunity to grow in Westbrook and purchased an agency there. Real estate sales were added to the Tracy and Westbrook locations, making room for the next generation of the Knakmuhs family to join the business. In 2014, Kerry's third son, Justin, joined the agency after graduating from Southwest Minnesota State University. The agency also found another opportunity to grow with the addition of an agency in Storden.
