Our Story

Ohio Public Risk Insurance Agency (OPRIA) was established in 1984 with the specific purpose of addressing the unique insurance and risk management needs of Ohio's Emergency Service Organizations and Public Entities. Born out of VFIS of Ohio, we have grown alongside the state's emergency services, proudly protecting those who protect our communities.

OPRIA partners with two industry leaders - VFIS and Glatfelter Public Entities (GPE) - to offer comprehensive insurance solutions tailored to the specific needs of municipalities, fire departments, ambulance services, rescue squads, and 911 centers. Our expertise covers:
