Frustrations with State Farm
Two customers have shared their disappointing experiences with State Farm, citing poor customer service and unreasonable claims handling.
Unaffordable Premiums and Ineligibility
Marianne Tobin has been with State Farm since 1975, but in recent years, she has faced significant premium increases and claims history issues. She was quoted an unaffordable premium of $600 per month for her car insurance, which led her to switch to Progressive. Similarly, when she tried to get a quote for her new home, State Farm deemed her ineligible due to claims history, despite having been a loyal customer for 18 years. She eventually switched to Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Company, which offered a significantly cheaper premium.
Lack of Communication and Follow-up
Jason Pike has been with State Farm for 30 years, but when he filed a claim for hail damage to his roof, he received no communication or follow-up from the office. Despite having zero claims in the past, he was ignored, and no one from the office contacted him to assess the damage or provide any updates.
Blame Shifted to Local Agents
Both customers expressed frustration with State Farm's corporate policies, which seem to prioritize profits over customer satisfaction. They praised their local agents, Don Kersten and Jason Pike's agent, for good communication, but felt that they were powerless to change the company's policies.
