Poor Customer Service and Dishonest Practices
FedNat's customers have reported poor customer service, dishonest practices, and unacceptable insurance claims handling. Many reviewers have expressed frustration with the company's inability to communicate effectively, cancel policies without notice, and mishandle claims.
Difficulty with Policy Changes and Cancellations
Several reviewers have experienced issues with policy changes and cancellations. Author Ruth Muckian's policy was cancelled without notice, and she was not informed until she contacted her agent. Author Bob Hazlett's policy was also cancelled without notice, and he was given only 8 days to find a new insurer.
Claims Handling Issues
Reviewers have reported difficulties with claims handling, including undervaluing losses, failure to respond to inquiries, and poor communication. Authors Rebecca Kelly and Taylor Karr both detailed their frustrating experiences with field adjusters who undervalued their claims. Author Jaime Mcallister's claim was also mishandled, with FedNat taking over a month to respond and sending incompetent workers to repair her home.
Lack of Transparency
Some reviewers have noted a lack of transparency in FedNat's business practices. Author Donald Coates's policy was cancelled despite his property being deemed low-risk, and he was not given a clear reason for the cancellation.
