Our Founder: Debbie

Debbie, the founder of Sears Insurance, was raised in West Des Moines. Her first job was with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa, where she worked in several departments, including Medicare Compliance and Claims. Little did she know at that time that she would end up in the health insurance business, owning her own agency. Debbie has witnessed immense change in the industry over the past 40 years. She continuously broadens her knowledge base through the Kelley Insurance Center at Drake University. She also attends many workshops and continuing education programs offered through other respected institutions. Debbie is proud to say that she owns a third-generation business, and the referrals she gets are from existing clients, local businesses, CPAs, attorneys, property and casualty agents, networking associates, and events she attends. Debbie is married to Dan, the founder of our agency, and they have one daughter, Kendi, son-in-law, John and a black Schnauzer named Duke. They enjoy their lake home in Sun Valley, traveling, cooking, family trips, classic cars and spending time with their friends.
