Our History

Founded in 1919 by Joseph Hlad, our company has a rich history that dates back over a century. Hlad, who was unsatisfied with the way his insurance company handled his claim after an auto accident, decided to take matters into his own hands and develop his own auto insurance company. With the support of 265 of his neighbors, Hlad created Madison County Mutual Auto Insurance Company, which opened its doors in January 1920 inside his general store. Over the years, we have grown and expanded to offer a wide range of insurance products and services to our customers.

Our leadership team is comprised of experienced professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional service and providing innovative solutions to our customers. Our leadership team includes President Michael H. Wenos, CPCU, AIC, who has been with the company since 2001, and Vice President and Treasurer Ann Frank, who has been with the company since 1998.
