Our Story

With a rich history dating back to 1870, True Insurance is a family-owned business that has been serving the insurance needs of individuals, families, and businesses in the Ithaca and Tompkins County area for over 150 years. Our story began when Ransom True Sr. sold his first insurance policy in Syracuse, NY. Since then, the business has been passed down from generation to generation, with each generation building upon the legacy established by those who came before.

Our History

In 1958, Jerome True brought the family business to the Ithaca area, joining with J. Guy Torbert of the T.H. Davenport Co. Jerome eventually bought the business and changed its name to what it is today: True Insurance. In 1978, Jerome's two sons, Jeff and Jay, became licensed Insurance Agents. In 1980, they purchased the building where they still operate today. With Jay True as President and a staff of 16 people, the agency provides insurance solutions to its clients throughout central New York.
