Our History

Founded in 1986 by President Joe LaBarbera, Mid-State began as an independent Life and Health insurance agency. Operating out of his parent's home, Joe grew the company by meeting the needs of individuals and small businesses in the area. In just one year, Mid-State opened its first office in Shorewood, Wisconsin. By 1989, the agency added Property and Casualty insurance and became a full-service multi-line agency. Mid-State relocated its offices to Mequon, Wisconsin in 1995. Today, the agency represents nearly one hundred insurance companies and over three thousand clients.
