Our Story

Levitt-Fuirst was founded in 1969 by V. David Levitt and Alan J. Fuirst, two law school friends who shared a passion for insurance and a desire to build a business that would prioritize the needs of its clients. Starting with small offices in Mt. Vernon, NY, the two entrepreneurs combined their skills and experience to create one of the most respected independent insurance agencies in the region.

Over the years, Levitt-Fuirst has expanded to meet the ever-changing needs of its clients. Our early growth was fueled by the success of our workers' compensation safety group for building contractors, which was developed in partnership with the Builders Institute of Westchester. This innovative program has since become one of the largest workers' compensation groups in the state, with over 900 entities participating.

As the company grew, we diversified our services to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Our Construction and Real Estate departments were established to provide tailored insurance solutions for the construction and real estate industries. Our Business Market segment was created to serve the insurance needs of businesses across various sectors, from manufacturing to professional services. Our Personal Insurance department was established to cater to the unique insurance needs of high-net-worth individuals and families.
