Our History
The story of UFG begins with the vision of Scott McIntyre Sr., a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, businessman. McIntyre had the ambition to form a stock insurance company in Iowa and founded United Casualty Company, as we were originally known, on January 2, 1946. Over the years, we have undergone mergers, acquisitions, and expansions, always maintaining our commitment to doing business the right way and treating people the right way.

UFG insurance has received criticism for its handling of claims and prioritizing profits over people.
