Our Story

DVA Insurance has a rich history deeply rooted in the metro Detroit community. Our journey began in 1979 when John Vandenbossche acquired the original R.W. Davis Agency in East Detroit. For many years, the agency was a small, intimate operation, run by just two dedicated individuals: John and his future business partner, Lisa Anderson. As the agency blossomed, it outgrew its humble beginnings and moved to a larger location on Nine Mile Road, just east of Gratiot. Staying true to its roots, DVA continued to prioritize personalized service and building strong relationships with its clients.

After 25 years at that location, the agency undertook another move, settling into its current spacious office just west of Kelly on Nine Mile Road. This expansion signaled a period of significant growth for DVA. Over the years, they successfully integrated several other agencies into the DVA family, starting with the Steinmetz Agency in Marine City, which became the Steinmetz-Vandenbossche Agency. Soon after, the Baxter Agency in Algonac also joined the team.

The commitment to growth and expansion led to DVA opening its first office from the ground up in 2013, establishing a strong presence in New Baltimore on 23 and Jefferson. Through each acquisition and expansion, DVA remained steadfast in its commitment to providing a local, family-oriented experience. This dedication to its clients and community served them well, setting the stage for continued success.

In 2002, a new chapter began with the addition of John's son, Jonathan, to the agency team, just as Lisa's son, Chris, also decided to join the family business. Today, DVA benefits from the combined expertise and dedication of this multigenerational team, ensuring that the agency's values and client-centric approach remain at the forefront of its operations.

Jonathan Vandenbossche, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, leverages his expertise to build strong client relationships and develop innovative marketing strategies. Patricia Snyder, Controller, brings her sharp financial acumen to maintain the agency's fiscal health.

Rounding out the leadership team is John Carnaghi, Facility Manager, who diligently oversees the agency's physical space, and Sue Cardaris, Controller, who diligently manages the agency's financial records.
